Top 3 Tips to Improve Your Lash Styling

Top 3 Tips to Improve Your Lash Styling

Are you struggling to give your clients what they want? Styling is a skill that can be practiced and learned. Here are the top 3 tips to improve your lash styling to help you become a better lash stylist.

Learn Eye Shapes

Everyone's eye is unique. Understanding their eye shapes is the first thing you should do to improve your styling. Some clients have an almond shape, round shape, etc. There are some styles that work well with certain shapes and some styles that do not work well. For example, a cat eye does not work well with a downturned eye shape, but works perfectly with an upturned eye-shape. Mastering eye shapes is every lash artist's first fundamental step to go from a beginner lash artist to a master lash stylist.

If you want to learn more in-depth about your client's eyes and how to style them, we offer an in-depth training course.

Take Photos of Your Client's Eyes

Take a BEFORE photo of your client for reference. This is important so you can plan your maps and see if there are any differences in each eye (i.e. shape, size, etc). There are clients with different sized eyes and different shapes. To be a better lash stylist, you need to take that into consideration when you are styling their eye. Lash extensions can make the differences even more noticeable.

Write Your Lash Maps

Take all the information you collected during consultation such as: eye-shape, differing eye sizes, what the client wants and put it all together into a custom lash map. Write your lash map onto the gel pad / foam tape. Planning ahead helps you create the exact look you want for your client. It also helps you blend the lengths together so they look seamless.

We hope these 3 tips help you become a better lash stylist. If you're having trouble with styling, download our e-book or join one of our courses to help jumpstart your career.
